Born in Ft. Worth, family moved to Aledo, graduated '98, moved to Lubbock, TTU, taught math for seven or so years, EMT/fire, safety officer, now basically a JOAT (jack@ss of all trades). Imagination spilled to paper late 2000s or so, apologies to those cramped up there for so long, and here we are.
One of my first memories is riding in the car with my mom driving to Lubbock to visit family. I was giggling and laughing in the passenger seat, telling her about ants driving tiny cars. I laughed and talked and laughed and talked about what I saw, finally telling her about the ant driving a tiny monster truck running over the other ants' cars. End of memory. I owe this creativity to my mom, and her support in all I do or try to do. Even through all the years on two wheels, consistently worrying, she supported me, helped me, urged me to do my best. My dad grew up without one, a car accident taking him before they could meet. Even so, he grew to become a fantastic dad, raising my brother and I with a good work ethic and clear set of morals. With an artistic mom and mechanical dad, I had the best of both worlds. I grew up playing with an active imagination and a set of legos. My family's support helped bring these worlds to life.
Oooooh how I should have listened to Mrs. Irby. Weatherford junior college is where this all should have started. I thought it was weird none of my friends, or classmates, had heaping piles of detailed worlds, characters, people, things, some good, some nightmare juice, floating around upstairs, so I suppressed it. Wanted to be normal, but I was a wool sock in a swimming pool. Act natural, no one will notice.
I don't have a normal style, or if I do I don't know what it's called. Here's how it comes out, if that's what you're asking. I see a movie playing in my head and I write what I see. Sometimes I can follow and scribble notes, other times I just enjoy the ride and forget to jot it down.
